Find Out How Bone Grafts Prepare Your Mouth for Implants
Our practice philosophy is to do dental implants without grafting whenever possible. And I’m gonna tell you, in 90% of situations we’re able to accomplish that. So, without bone grafts, without adding bone, without multiple surgeries, we’re able to place the implant. And the reason we’re able to do that is our specialists are very well trained and we have technology at our disposable that allows us to do that. Now, say for example that is not possible. So, in 10% of patients that may not be possible, and in 10% of patients we may need something called bone grafting. Now, bone grafting is a very simple procedure. And it can be done very efficiently. There are many ways to bone graft. And our periodontists are the specialists who do bone grafts. What a bone graft is, is we are building the bone to be able to house the implant.
What we don’t want is to place the implant in just the right amount of bone, because if there is any type of disease in the future and you lose bone, you may end up losing the implant. So, we want to make sure that whenever we do implants, we do it with longevity in mind so that the implant once it goes in, it lasts you… I would say, I’d like to think that it’s gonna last you the rest of your days, right? So, bone grafting is not something that you should, as a patient, be worried about. It’s a very simple procedure accomplished very quickly and efficiently, and very minimally invasively so that you can have teeth that last you a long time.
