4) Base Metal Alloys

Metal alloys dental crowns are extremely long-lasting and resistant to corrosion. Also, they are gentle against neighboring teeth as they are made of non-noble metals. To apply this type of crown a dentist only have to remove a small quantity of tooth structure.

How to Take Care of Dental Crowns?

After a crown application, your damaged tooth will be restored; however, a crowned tooth is not protected from gum disease or decay. This is due to the underlying tooth and root structures are still vulnerable to cavities. Therefore, good oral hygiene is still required after a dental crown application.

To maintain gums and teeth healthy brushing at least twice a day and rinsing with mouthwash at least once a day is required. Flossing around the crown area where the gum meets the tooth on a daily basis is also recommended.

Lastly, to prevent damaging crowns or avoid any chips occurring you could avoid chewing hard foods such as ice.
